The Armenian
heritage of a very good friend of ours from Tbilisi, Republic of
Georgia, is the inspiration for, and subject of, this painting. We
became acquainted with Maria through an exchange student program at
the high school where my husband taught. Maria stayed in the U.S.
to attend college and we enjoy her company as often as we can,
sharing a love of good food and friends around the dinner table. She
introduced us to fine Armenian cognac, featured in the center of the
table, and wonderful Georgian foods! With help from her mother
Karina in Tbilisi, I re-created a table as it might be set for a
Georgian feast.
