This painting was done as a commission for
Indiana's former Governor, Joe Kernan, Jr. He requested that only items made here in
Indiana be included. Putting everything together, and then painting it,
was only part of the fun. Everything is rooted in Indiana history,
commerce, the arts, education and fine crafts. The cookies, pretzels,
chocolates, maple syrup, wine, canned goods, books by Indiana authors, music, a
Raggedy Ann doll, baseball bats, a hip-replacement joint (really), a handcrafted
lamp, the State flower and even the quilt and bedspread forming the background
are all Indiana-made items. Oh yes, and there is also a sprinkling of
politics! The original painting measures 5'x 5'.
