After being rejected by a well-known New York art dealer
because my work lacked any kind of dark, narrative undercurrents, I decided to
get even. I baked a loaf of Irish soda bread, full of currants, and set it
over an Ann Rice novel. I deeply enjoy Ms. Rice's work, and this
particular novel is a dark narrative about witches and a race of
not-quite-humans. Therefore, I had created a painting with a dark narrative
under currants. Other paintings featuring flowers are
Cut Flowers,
Dana’s Flowers,
Summer Garden, and
Mona Lisa Dances With Poppies.
