What A Fruitcake!, 60"x 60"

This watercolor is part of the permanent collection of Contemporary American Realism at the
Swope Museum of Art in Terre Haute, Indiana.

While this painting is full of the things I love to cook with, there are also a couple of references to silliness. One involved putting a gash in my head by bumping into a cupboard door while getting a snack; this is the small newspaper article tacked to the wall. The other involved a small shiny aluminum container of matches I forgot to pack during a backpack trip (top shelf). The small color photograph is of a couple of long-time friends of ours who can be "fruitcakes" themselves sometimes. Other paintings capitalizing on food are Kitchen Still Life Blanca and Francesca, Summer Garden, Silver With Fruit and Cakes, Eye Candy, Maria's Dinner Table, Food Pyramid and Mu Shu
